RETURNING TO THE ISLAND WITH PRIVACY AND DIGNITY

Following discussion with clinicians in the islands, we have identified a need for returning patients to the island where a sense of privacy, dignity or discretion would be advantageous.

The reasons for these flights are wide ranging, but they would be clinically led. A couple of examples would be where a family may have been flown to the UK with a very poorly child, and the worst outcome may have occurred. Flying back to the island via a busy airport and a flight where friends or colleagues may be onboard could cause additional stress for the family.

There are also some treatments where the patient could be at enhanced risk being in a busy public area, and may be recommended to not be in the vicinity of young children, something that cannot be controlled with public transport.

These flights would be sponsored and would be built into our schedule in such a way that would not affect our response time for other flights.
